Ground
Network
We maintain strategically located remote
ground stations around the Earth (see Site Locations) and
network management and communications centers.
Customers "rent" communication time on our network,
fully supported by technical services and security from USN.
Access to the USN communications network infrastructure extends
from a customer’s facility through the USN network to
their assets in space.
Our Network Management Center (NMC)
is the heart of the system. It serves as the primary interface
for customer satellite communications, with facilities located
in Newport Beach, CA, Horsham, PA, and Kiruna, Sweden.

The NMC features:
- High-capacity communications for rapid
data transfer
- Firewalls and custom USN data access
and routing systems for U.S. government-approved network

computer and Internet connection

A virtual private network (VPN) connects
our ground stations and network management centers. These
connections provide more than enough circuit capacity to support
all USN missions.
